ATKA’s First Christmas

In my previous newsletter I mentioned that “I was hoping to finish the year on a high by Christmas” and I did, with $104,544.40 in GWP written since our launch on 22nd July. It may not be a lot, but for me, it’s a testament of the trust, loyalty and support from my team, strategic partners and network.
November, my favourite month of the year, brought with it endless opportunities, growth and a need to expand the team.
A warm welcome to Pauline Jame Batalla, Executive Assistant for joining the pack from the Philippines. Pauline is already making a positive difference in the business with her skills, experience and dedication.
Remembrance Day Memorial Service, organised by the Northern Beaches Council and the Manly Warringah Memorial Park Remembrance Trust, is a very important day in the November calendar as we commemorate the Armistice which formally ended World War I, the ceasefire taking effect at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, 1918.
At 11am, we dedicate 1 minute silence in memory of those who have paid the ultimate price in wars and peace keeping efforts around the world.
Lest We Forget!

Attending and organising events whether political, social or personal are an important aspect of my life. “How do you do it? Where do you find time?” Are few of the many questions I get asked all the time. Well, I do it because I love it. I do it because being involved leads to change. I do it because I like meeting people, learning from them and understanding their interactions in certain social settings. I do it because I believe that when you love something, you find time to do it and when you love someone, you find time to be with them.
If you want to be part of my journey, attend events with me or even organise an event together, get in touch. Collaboration between businesses and people leads to many unforeseen opportunities.
Why does your newsletter barely cover insurance topics? Another question I get asked every time it goes out. “We are Unique” that’s why. The Wolf Pack Concept itself in business is Unique. The internet and social media are overloaded with insurance related articles. This business is a personal mission. The pack’s members believe in that mission. We all are here to help, understand, serve and be there for people when they need us.
Finally, It’s Christmas! A time to celebrate the birth of God’s Son – Jesus. It is about how he came to give us love, hope and joy. That message doesn’t change from year to year. When there is so much bad news, wars and devastation in the world, Christmas will always bring hope to those who believe that there is none left.
Christmas magnifies Loneliness. I ask you please, Be Present in the lives of those who need you. Many of us will be lonely and feeling lonely during this period. The best present you can gift anyone now is your time. Be present, that’s your present!
We wish you a Wonderful Christmas and a Blessed New Year ahead!

New laws increasing what Strata Managers disclose to owners including Insurance Requirements
From early 2025, Strata Managers will need to disclose more information, more frequently to the Owners Corporation for Strata Schemes they manage. This includes details about their connections with suppliers, developers, commissions and training servicesthey may receive.
Strata managers will need to provide clearly itemised quotations for insurance policies. This includes setting out commission and broker fee amounts and who these are ultimately paid to. The base premium amount of the insurance policy and GST will also need to be clearly set out.
Strata managers will be banned from getting a commission on insurance if the owners corporation obtained the quote and arranged for its payment independently, without their help.
If disclosure Requirements have been breached:
Strata managers must comply with the new disclosure obligations when they come into effect in 2025. If you suspect a strata manager has breached the new laws, you can report them to NSW Fair Trading by making a complaint:

Supporting small businesses to build a larger network was celebrated at the Canterbury Bankstown Chamber of Commerce – CBCC Gala 2024. A night full of positive vibes, laughter and fun while still fundraising and supporting the Trilogy Foundation Canterbury Bankstown.

The Armenian National Committee of Australia 2024 Gala was an impressive evening with an amazing line up of passionate guest speakers.
The mission to the betterment of the Armenian people, the advancement of Armenian issues and championing the ongoing struggle for freedom and justice were key topics of the night. The involvement of the youth in this mission is incredible and what was impressive also is the $155,320 raised on the night to support their goals.

There is no worse place to be than alone on the streets, without hope
I had the Honor to meet a distinguished award-winning editor, publisher and photographer launching the 30th edition of his Classic Lifestyle Book “The Hope Edition”, Phil Harte.

100% of the proceeds of his book sale were donated to The Vinnies Vans initiative, roaming our streets and providing meals and essential support to those in need.
Phil Harte, an uplifting experience, a great conversation and an everlasting inspiration

Northern Beaches Domestic Violence Network 2024 Gala
During the 16 Days of Activism, November 25 -December 10, we worked tirelessly to raise awareness against Domestic Violence in my community.
Starting with the Northern Beaches Domestic Violence Network 2024 Gala on November 30, and finishing off with Local Legends Grand Stand Against Domestic Violence.
As of November 11, 2024, 62 women were killed in Australia from Domestic Violence and that day also marked the death of the 11th woman in 16 days.

The numbers shine a light on the horrifying reality of violence against women in Australia, a national crisis that kills 1 woman every 4 days. This woman could be your mother, sister, friend… so let’s stop this horrible cycle, raise awareness and report the perpetrators.
It was an honour to hear from Superintendent Danielle Emerton APM and Commander of Northern Beaches Area Command Superintendent John Duncan about the recently established police task force and initiatives implemented in NSW to arrest and charge the perpetrators.
Local Legends Grand Stand Against Domestic Violence
Local Legends Grand Stand Against Domestic Violence was the last event in the series of activities during the 16 days Activism Against Domestic Violence.
On Saturday, December 07, Manly Marlins Rugby Club and Warringah Rats Rugby Club faced off at a friendly Tri Tag Rugby game with referee no one but former Rugby League Australia player and CEO of Tri Tag Rugby, Mark Gasnier.

An amazing event with many organizations from The Northern Beaches Domestic Violence Network showcased their services and contributed to the success of this unique event.
The heavens opened that day, but we still managed to pull off an amazing event for a great cause.
Thank you Sportscover for insuring the event.

The Rotary Club of Warringah Christmas Dinner
I have been a member of Rotary for 13 Years now and the amazing work that the Club does, locally and internationally, to make this world a better place is unwavering.
Our Christmas Dinner is a family gathering, sharing our successes, projects and plans for the year ahead.
Our Tree of Joy was up at Dee Why Grand, collecting donated presents to be delivered to our local vulnerable children this Christmas and putting a smile on their little faces.

Our Charity of Choice
The Lone Wolf Pack Inc
The Lone Wolf Pack Inc., like every other year, funds the Christmas Celebrations at a beautiful school in Lebanon in the village of Adonis-Jbeil, “The School of the Franciscan sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary”.
It’s a project that I have adopted since 2021. It is the only co-ed school in the precinct that accommodates Kids with Disabilities, Kids with Special Needs and Mainstream Kids.
Those kids and their families are paying the price of a war inflicted on their homeland which was already suffering from high unemployment, uncontrollable inflation and an economy in distress.
It’s time to give these families and 280 kids, the gift of Hope, beautiful memories of Christmas and put a smile on their innocent faces.

Share the Dignity
Another annual project The Lone Wolf Pack does is its collaboration with “Share the Dignity” to distribute what is the basic of Hygienic Products to women and girls throughout the year. Christmas is a special one with the first 46 bags received were delivered to girls, women and mothers with babies across Sydney.
It’s an ongoing project assisting women in shelters, refuges and in need.

If you would like to help in any project that
The Lone Wolf Pack does, please get in touch wendy@thelonewolfpack.org.au

ATKA Insurance Brokers was in the National Insurance Brokers Association Adviser Magazine, December Edition.
Read my views about Business Interruption Insurance where emerging risks, especially cyber-attacks, are growing a lot faster and more sophisticated than the insurance industry’s ability to build products to mitigate those risks and protect small businesses.
BUSINESS INTERRUPTION / INTERRUPTED
On face value, business interruption should be essential for any business. But a lack of preparedness combined with a product that needs to catch up with the modern world means trouble could be lurking around the corner.
Thank you, Martin Wanless, for a great article.

Wolf Fact
Wolves are a critical keystone species in a healthy ecosystem.
By regulating prey populations, wolves enable many other species to flourish. Without wolves, the system fails to support a natural level of biodiversity and may cease to exist altogether.
